About converting WebP to JPG
WebP is what most of the web now serves, which is why images saved from a browser so often arrive in a format that older software, print workflows and plenty of desktop apps still refuse to open. This converts them to JPG, which opens everywhere.
Both formats are lossy, so this is a second generation of compression. It is not free, but at quality 92 it is not visible either — and the alternative, an image you cannot open at all, is worse.
WebP supports transparency and JPG does not, so an alpha channel is flattened onto white. If the image has a transparent background you want to keep, PNG is the right target instead.

Why will nothing open my WebP file?
WebP is a web delivery format. Browsers all support it; a great deal of desktop, print and legacy Office software still does not. Converting to JPG removes the problem entirely.
Will the file get bigger?
Usually, yes. WebP compresses better than JPG at the same visual quality, so the JPG will be larger. You are trading size for compatibility.
What about transparency?
It is flattened onto white, because JPG has no alpha channel. Convert to PNG instead if the transparent background matters.
Is quality lost twice?
Technically yes — both formats are lossy. At quality 92 the second generation is not visible on normal images.
